I'm a free-lance artist who sews a whole bunch and has a major weakness for cute shoes. This blog is about anything and everything I do that is creative.

I'm currently challenging myself to sew something new for myself every month and put together some cute ensemble to go with it.

I thought I was going to redesign the back, but ended up making it strapless. I really hated the straps that were on it. Maybe I’ll give it spaghetti straps if keeping it up becomes an issue.  I’m also going to sew in bra cups.

I also decided I need WAY more hair, and in a few different shades of blonde and textures. It’s only $1 per package of loose hair so why not.

Anyhoo… you want pictures, right?

My dressmaker form does NOT “fill out” the dress like I would. I’m more curvy than this thing allows, so the breastplate looks “off”

More pics below cut….

The breastplate corset, made with silver taffeta and interfaced within an inch of its life to make it stiff in the front.  This was actually fabric leftover from a project ages ago, and I didn’t have enough, didn’t want to buy more, so I seamed one of the front side pieces.

The dressmaker form assumes women don’t have actual busts, and it also has it to where the torso on it is a mile long. I’m short-torsoed, so while the front doesn’t lay right on this, it does when I put it on me. And yes, I will need to add to the back a bit.  I believe I will attach it to the dress.

The underdress… black satin with silver netting overlay. The netting makes my hands get all dirty and I haven’t found a way to get rid of that.  It has a train which I’ll have to bustle up for when I wear it out, but the train gives it a more dramatic effect overall.  The top edge needs to be finished (bias tape is sewn on, just not sewn down) and I haven’t put the zipper in yet.

I’ll probably add opera-length fingerless gauntlets to it….I *know* it isn’t canon to the Narnia story (they’d be as canon as the frozen baby purse), but I think I’ll like the overall look better.
