I'm a free-lance artist who sews a whole bunch and has a major weakness for cute shoes. This blog is about anything and everything I do that is creative.

I'm currently challenging myself to sew something new for myself every month and put together some cute ensemble to go with it.

…and now could never live without!!

  • Glow-in-the-dark thread. This was just so awesome there was no way it could NOT not exist! Turns out, it does. It’s expensive at $6 for 100 yards, but the effect is SOOO worth it! It adds a little extra kick to things that are Frankenstein-stitched on.
  • Printable fabric. I can not express how awesome this is, especially since a lot of what I make *is* little patches- this saves me the step of the whole iron-on decal BS. Expensive, but worth it! Since I make doll-sized stuff, I can make a sheet last for a few projects. It also irons on fabric if I need to layer stuff. I prefer it to the dark-fabric transfer decal paper.
  • Teeny-tiny bottles of Tacky Glue.  I rarely use glue that isn’t hot glue and I can never justify the expensive of a massive bottle that somehow mysteriously dries out. JoAnn’s carries tiny bottles of it for $0.60. Score!

The best part? I can get all of it on stores that are open on Sundays- so no having to deal with Hobby Lobby hell to get these! Actually, something funny’s happened at my Hobby Lobby store lately; the cashiers are nicer and the lines are shorter. Wonder what happened? Should I get used to this?

I’m also working on a massive bead-work project, so I’ll be pic-spamming the hell out of it once I get it started! It’s a new dress for the Titanic costume; has 3 tiers of beaded chiffon over grey satin.  After Halloween, I’ll be removing the longest tier, make a shorter satin underlayer, and wear it as a shorter dress for my cousin’s wedding in April. I’ll probably keep the longer layers just in case I decide to “go long” again!
